Meet The Horses

Meet Our Horses

Pippa

I was the first horse purchased for the ministry! I was previously in a lesson program that was not working out as I like to trot fast which wasn’t good for beginners. I know I'm cute and often take advantage of that. I am wonderful on lead line.  I have one brown eye and one blue eye.  Pam first met me while I was in the program and she was trimming my hooves. I was bratty at first, but she came to love me. After a while, she felt compelled to ask the lady running the program I was at if she could do a half lease with me and do some ground work with me. After a few weeks, the lady said she had sold me. Pam felt that I was meant to do work with the ministry at Hope Reins and was confused by the news. As it so happens, the person who purchased me brought me back that same night and I was able to be bought by Pam and come live at Hope Reins Ranch!
Gideon

I am a Standardbred horse who was rescued striaght from the kill pen. I was on my way to slaughter until Hope Reins Ranch interfered with that plan. They are pretty sure that I was an buggy horse. When I came my hooves were in horrible shape, I was underweight, my rear fetlocks (lower legs) were in bad shape and I was a little beat up from being at the auction. Today I am happy and healthy, leading the herd at Hope Reins Ranch.
Job
I am an aged Standardbred that also came straight from the kill pen. At the time, Hope Reins wasn't looking for another horse, but a video of me and some other horses was sent to Pam and the only one she felt drawn to was this skinny, depressed, beat up old fella...Me! Their horse trainer, Erin, also felt I would be a good fit for the Ranch so they fund raised for me and I was all theirs! Best guess is that I'm between 25 and 30 years old. When I first arrived at the Ranch, I was completely shut down, skinny, somewhat beat up and wanted nothing to do with people or other horses. I even had scars on my nose and poll where somebody had left a halter on me for too long.  One of my first days there, a few young ladies were were brushing me and I shed a few tears. I am the local curmudgeon, but I LOVE people and receiving love from people. I am known as the horse that turns the “I don’t like horses” people into “I love horses” people. Currently, I have a significant heart murmur and a tendon injury. It's also hard for me to keep weight on. So, I'm retired from Riding. I've been at Hope Reins for little over a year and will be loved and cared for as long as they deem that I have good quality of life. Hope Reins Ranch is my forever home. My name is Job because Job in the Bible was restored and Hope Reins Ranch has restored me.
